I know, I know. I have moved to one of the coolest parts of California -breathtaking scenery when you look to the horizons. Short car drives for short hikes to remote wilderness. Death Valley. Sequoia-Kings Canyon. Yosemite. Park Land. Forest Land. BLM Land. Climbing. Running. Hiking. Backpacking. And don't even get me started on the archaeology.
But sometimes...when life gives you lemons and you are out of sugar to make the lemonade a little less bitter, you have to block out the overwhelming urge to keep busy so that it looks like everything is A-OK. And you need to sleep. Or knit. Or watch an entire season of Eureka plus three movies. Or do all three at once. And eat cereal in between meals.
And sometimes...when your neighbors across the street have a Saturday Night UFC-inspired brawl outside your window and a lot of police cars show up and your dog won't settle down and you had just finally gotten to sleep...you have to remind yourself that it is okay if you slept until noon and missed another chance to go for a glorious outdoor adventure.
But anyway. Next weekend...Mom comes to visit and I will drag her all over the East Side of the Sierras. She just doesn't know it yet.
