Today we explored the desert around Ridgecrest.
First we went to the Trona Pinnacles.
Ellie felt that it was important for us to climb as much of the tufa as possible. The higher the better...right?
It was a unique landscape to visit...but the 150 BAZILLION off-road vehicles zooming around the pinnacles was more than annoying. Beyond annoying. So annoying in fact, that we left. And went to see some rock art which Mom thought was awesome.
And Ellie thought was just another chance to rock hop.
Next we went to Fossil Falls to explore the lava flows.
Mom was very interested in the geology and the fact that we drove through a dry lake bed....I was very interested in the very large scatter of obsidian artifacts around the falls. So Shiny! So Pretty! So full of Data!
I think Mom is learning that when you look at the ground long enough, you start to see things you might not otherwise notice. Like this...can you find what's hiding in this picture?
